Complications due to Acupuncture

Just like any medicine has side effects, even Acupuncture has Complications.

pain on insertion of the needle

When the needle is inserted, people get pain and the pain is inevitable. There is an old saying “No Pain, No Gain”. So people need to bear pain, in order to recover Health.

bleeding

Blood will come out at the point of insertion of needles. This is a normal phenomenon as the needles pierce the skin.

fainting

People can sometime faint. With proper precaution, it can be avoided.

the needle can be forgotten

Lack of presence of mind makes the therapist forget the needle. The therapist should be careful as it may lead to collapse of vital organs, like Lungs, etc.

needles can be bent or broken

If too much pressure is applied, it may lead to bending of needle or it may even get broken.

If the needles are not properly sterilized, they lead to infections.

there can be injury to vital organs

If the therapist is not properly skilled, he/she should avoid vital organs. As it may lead to collapsing of vital organs.

overcorrection if he is in the drug therapy

It is responsibility of the therapist to know if the client (patient) has been taking any medicine, before starting the procedure.

abortion or premature delivery in pregnancy

It is not advisable to use acupuncture for Ladies who are Pregnant.

failure of acupuncture anathesia

Failure of acupuncture anesthesia, may lead to severe pain, so the therapist should be well educated about Acupuncture.

It is a wrong assumption that the electro acupuncture is not having complications. The person who is providing Electro acupuncture, should be properly educated about electro acupuncture.
