- zong qi-from inspiration of air
- qin qi-originates in lungs and circulates in internal organs
- Jeng qi-stored in kidneys
- Jing qi-energy circulation in channels
- Xian tian qi-inherited
- Yuan qi-active part of the xiantian qi
- Ying qi-from essential substances in vessels
- Wei qi-also formed from food and circulates mainly in soft tissue
