Types of Qi

The circulation of energy is central thesis of the universalistic Chinese philosophy on which acupuncture is based. According to this philosophy the universe is is in state of cosmic energy flux. Energy is transformable from one state to another. Energy may exist in non material form.

This concept is similar to thermodynamics. certain feature even anticipate relative theory of Einstein.

Types of QI

  1. ku Qi- derived from food
  2. zong qi-from inspiration of air
  3. qin qi-originates in lungs and circulates in internal organs
  4. Jeng qi-stored in kidneys
  5. Jing qi-energy circulation in channels
  6. Xian tian qi-inherited
  7. Yuan qi-active part of the xiantian qi
  8. Ying qi-from essential substances in vessels
  9. Wei qi-also formed from food and circulates mainly in soft tissue
